TOPS SHENYANG 2008

TOPS  means the best of. The TOPS Festival of Photojournalism aims at gathering the best of photojournalism in different categories which was published the year before in the Press around the world.

The first TOPS happened in Shenyang, Liaoning, China,  from June 22 to July 22, 2008. For the very first time in the world, were presented 11,000 photographs taken by the world best photojournalists, including Chinese nationals of course.

Many of those photographs have been since then presented to different Festivals around the world such as Perpignan, in France, this September 2008 and Pingyao,  a number of them were highly rewarded.

This is made possible for the simplest reason: The TOPS selection of exhibitions is made by a Jury composed of 15 photo editors from ten countries representing some of the largest magazines or photo agencies. Photo-editors  see every day the pictures coming from all over. They are not missing a single opportunity to publish the top pictures in their magazines…

Remains the task of the TOPS Committee to contact the photographers and ask them the rights to exhibit their work. We have exhibited in Shenyang 250 photographers including 150 from 35 countries. With a very spectacular result: the audience was stricken by the quality, the diversity and the interest of the works shown..

The photographers were enthusiasts about the way their pictures could be seen in China, to a new audience which they would have never dreamed of.

Thousands and thousands citizens from Shenyang, school and university children were fascinated by the shows.

The next TOPS will aim at offering the best photos in categories such as nature and environment which will be presented next august, in Dali, China and the best of photojournalim in Eskesehir, Turkey, in June.
